Our Christmas outreach program

“Strengthening families in the Hammond area through education, guidance and compassion."

In keeping with our mission statement, we want to be compassionate and help low income families during this special time of year. Each year we provide Christmas presents, gas cards, gift cards for family outings, family Christmas photos and more. As part of the program, we also educate and guide these same families by providing free home budgeting and parenting courses to parents who need help in these areas.

  • We invite you to join us in helping at-risk families in the Hammond, East Chicago, and Whiting communities. 100% of your donations to “Gift of Hope” go directly to families in need.

    The needs are great. You can help others this Christmas by donating any amount, or combination, of the following:

    1. Toys/Games/Small Electronics for children 0 to 17 years old. (Not to exceed $30 per item)
    2. Sweaters or hoodies , S to 2XL, for teens and adults (not to exceed $15-$20)
    3. Family board games (we like to encourage a “Family game night”)
    4. Gifts for parents or guardians such as household items, watches, health & beauty, wallets, belts, etc.(not to exceed $15 each or $30 for couples)
    5. Fast food gift cards of $10, $20, or $25 dollars
    6. Monetary donations are greatly appreciated, and completely go toward the purchase of gifts. Please make checks out to “Our Family Center” and note on the memo: “Gift of Hope” or “Family programs.”

    "S.A.Y. Yes!"  After School Tutoring & Mentoring

    "S.A.Y. Yes!" is a great opportunity to help your child after school in a safe and fun environment.  "S.A.Y. Yes!" is a national program that is available at Our Family Center in south Hammond.  We provide after school tutoring and mentoring where children ages K-8 learn about making positive choices, responsibility, integrity, friendship and leadership.

    Dates: September 6, 2011 - June 7, 2012

    Days: Tuesday through Thursday

    Hours: 3:00 - 6:00pm Healthy snack provided

    This is a LOW COST after-school program!  Some scholarships may be available for low income households. Come in and check us out!  CCDF approved.
